Leadership

Leading teams, events, and classrooms

Roles where I have been responsible for other people, from running a fraternity and a 1,000 person concert to teaching statistics and coaching.

Vice President

Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity, UCLA

As Vice President of Zeta Beta Tau at UCLA, I ran a lot of the day to day of a large chapter and its events. I coordinated more than 15 events with other UCLA Greek Life organizations, each with over 100 participants, and planned two philanthropic events supporting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and the Gift of Life Marrow Registry. I also led new member recruitment and grew our new member class by 200 percent over the year before.

The event I am most proud of is a concert I organized for the fraternity with more than 1,000 people in attendance, headlined by Mike Sherm. I booked the artist and managed the relationship through the night, brought on sponsors, and ran ticket sales. I planned the production and the schedule, and I set up the security and safety plan so the whole night ran smoothly.

Statistics tutoring session

Statistics Tutor and Lecturer

La Costa Canyon High School

I planned and led more than 20 lectures in AP Statistics for a group of about 40 students at La Costa Canyon High School. I built each lesson myself and taught the core topics of the course, including sampling methods, probability, common distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, and linear regression.

Explaining hard ideas in a way that actually clicks for students is a big part of why I enjoy data and teaching it.

Coaching flag football

Head Coach

NCC Friday Night Lights

I was the head coach of a third grade flag football team in the NCC Friday Night Lights program. I ran practices twice a week, teaching the fundamentals of the game along with teamwork and good sportsmanship.

I made a point of rotating every player into each game so everyone got real playing time, and I stayed in close contact with more than 20 parents through the season to keep things organized.
