Statistics Paper on Gender Bias in College Admissions
A statistics research paper testing whether colleges admit men and women at equal rates.
This is a statistics research paper I led on whether colleges admit men and women at equal rates. I built the sample using stratified random sampling across more than 1,000 ranked universities, then cleaned and merged the admissions data in R into one dataset ready for analysis. To answer the question I ran hypothesis tests comparing acceptance rates between genders.
The paper walks through the sampling method, the tests, and what the results say about fairness in admissions. This is the project where a lot of my interest in statistics turned into something concrete, and it is part of why I chose to study data science.
